Description

This course teaches the basics of the WebSphere Application Server administration by covering both Base (WAS), and Network Deployment (ND) version 5.x.  Issues regarding development, deployment, migration and performance of J2EE/Web applications will be discussed.

Prerequisites

The student should have a good understanding of Web technology, Java/J2EE, operational skills for Windows and administration skills for a web server (examples: Apache or IBM HTTP Server). Experience in J2EE/Web Development and Deployment helpful but not necessary.

Software Requirement and setup

• IBM WebSphere Application Server  5.0.x
  • Do not install
  • The latest cumulative fixes for WebSphere Application Server
• IBM WebSphere Application Network Deployment 5.0
  •  Do not install
•   WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) 5.0.x
  • Install
• DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition 8.1.5
  • Download the server
    • Install, and use db2admin for user and password
  • Download the appropriate patch for DB2
    • Install
• CVSNT 2.0.41a
  • Do not Install

• Window 2000 (XP)
•  Pentium 4 with at least 1Gig of RAM at least 20 Gig of free Hard Drive space
